Chamber Music
Chamber music is at the heart and soul of PACO. Our orchestra thrives because of our philosophy of teaching our young musicians to listen, communicate and grow into leaders who can play well with others. We have two options for chamber music at PACO:
The PACO Academy, a yearlong intensive chamber program: Students make a yearlong commitment to chamber music. This program is led by our PACO Chamber Music Director who sets the chamber groups and their repertoire. Student groups stay together through the whole season, and will receive at least 20 professional coachings throughout the year. They will play in masterclasses, competitions, concerts and festivals. This option is open to any PACO student from Superstrings to Senior who desires a more intensive chamber music experience. Rehearsals take place at set times and location as determined by PACO. This program is priced competitively compared to many similar yearlong chamber programs which cost more but offer less in the way of individualized instruction, structure and support. This program celebrates PACO’s commitment to chamber music while maintaining our supportive environment founded in “playing well with others.”
The standard chamber program: Students will be placed in musical quartets or trios with other students within their orchestra and will be given chamber music to be played at one of the concerts for their orchestra. They will have a combination of student- and professional musician-led rehearsals. The Chamber Music Director will set the repertoire of chamber music from Superstrings to Senior, and rehearsals will be held at a location and time determined by PACO. In this model, we aim for 6 hours of professional coachings over the course of their set.
